Away for the Day - Cell Phone Policy

NC State Law (HB 959)

There is now a NC State Law (HB 959) that prohibits students from accessing cell phones and smart watches during instructional time. Instructional time in middle school defined as the moment students enter the building until the school day ends at 2:30 pm.

1st Offense

Device taken and turned into the main office, Device will be returned at the end of the day. Parent contacted.

2nd Offense

Device taken and turned into the main office. Parent contacted and must pick up device from school. Coded as a minor in Educators Handbook.

3rd Offence

Device taken and turned into the main office. Parent contacted and must pick up device from school. Coded as a major in Educators Handbook and 1 day of ISS.

4th Offense

Device taken and turned into the main office. Parent contacted and must pick up device from school. Coded as a major in Educators Handbook and 2 days of ISS.
